Important Notice – Do Not Bring Prohibited Animal or Plant Products into Taiwan

Dear International Students,

To comply with the latest regulations from the Animal and Plant Health Inspection Agency, Ministry of Agriculture, Taiwan, we would like to remind all faculty, staff, and students returning to Taiwan from abroad not to bring any prohibited animal or plant products into the country. This is to avoid violations and potential penalties.

Details:

  • According to recent notifications from the Animal and Plant Health Inspection Agency, there has been a slight increase in the number of cases involving travelers bringing prohibited animal or plant products into Taiwan. In particular, most violations this year have been committed by travelers returning from Mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau, Thailand, Japan, and Vietnam. Commonly confiscated items include ham, sausages, cured meats, chicken feet, duck neck, marinated duck, duck intestines, beef jerky, and semi-cooked eggs.

  • With the Dragon Boat Festival approaching, there is an expected rise in cases involving travelers bringing zongzi (rice dumplings containing meat) into Taiwan. We urge all members of the university community to strictly observe the regulations and refrain from bringing any prohibited animal or plant products upon entry. Please also inform your family and friends overseas not to mail pork products or other animal quarantine items to Taiwan to avoid penalties.

Thank you for your cooperation.
